And all the normies will flow in, asking "what, that stuff with the gun damns and space battles?" and cite the re-release LOTGH as proof that that's what real anime is and then finally lynch Yamada Kumiko in the name of women's rights and that's what saves anime and makes it a genre again
Hie, I'm trying to find a good solution to never get out of storage on my HDDs, for my backups and my regular use.
What is your data storage solution?
I want, if possible, a solution that is the most freedom compliant.
There is the usb HDDs, 3/4 plugged on a rasp.
There is the NAS with 3.5' HDDs in it.
Maybe a cheap 20$ computer with the HDDs in it with linux installed...
What should be the best? What HDD to buy (there are these backdoors, even though I don't think I can find any without)
>>10797 >>10795 I keep five backup toughbooks inside of a plastic bag that has been heat sealed making it waterproof. I put the laptop inside of a faraday cage which in turn is inside of a metal box made of lead. Why five laptops you may ask? Well, that is if one of them breaks, I can move to another laptop and use that one instead, and if all of my laptops break, I can find the broken parts and use working parts from another to fix it.
>>14620 >IIRC the /pol/ board here when endchan first started up got a lot of shit for advertising when 8ch was in a shambles and their own /pol/ clearly had some moderation issues but mostly a complete change in milieu.
Its called take advantage of an opportunity, its a marketing ability.
They do. The problem being, marketing chans to other chans is a waste of time. The days when you could announce the launch a new site with a spam raid across 4chan are long gone. Users who remain are hold outs from simpler times. At best, some people will stop by, notice nothing is going on, and skip back to whence they came, never to return.
Potentially useful newer users are already extensively active in Discord, websites that directly focus on their interests (DeviantArt, many boorus), wikis, and the more traditional forums. Like old school TV, chans aren't places for the need-to-be-seen advertisers any more.
Launching a chan these days requires:
a) A preexisting user base willing to give it a go. That, more or less, made 4chan's start.
b) Or, a topic or movement not already covered by another website, or chan board. Redundancy is deadly.
c) Failing the above, you need to stomp on the coattails of an existing group being kicked from somewhere else, and actively guide them to your site. Good luck timing such migrations. You have to be in there right from the start, and move faster than everyone else.
What doesn't work:
a) FEATURE RICH! THE NEXT BESTEST THING EVAH TO SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY IN CHAN TECHNOLOGY! There are dozens of different image-board systems with features you've never even heard of. Nobody cares, unless you bloat up and sink so far down the hole you're not running a chan anymore. You really want to compete with Discord?
b) TOTAL PRIVACY AND ANONYMITY FOREVER AND EVERYTHING! The people who insist on doing things this way moved elsewhere long ago. Sites offering you such while connected through the traditional internet are lying, even if only to themselves.
>>14624 good post the only thing appealing about chans is the anonymity, i guess. i've seen a few small community chans just ditch the site completely and move to discord. maybe we're the backwards ones living in the past? i don't know. but I do think chans coming and going is ultimately a good thing. ideals change and corruption creeps overtime, both are inevitable. if, for example, hikkichan never died, it would quickly become a very unhealthy echo-chamber that would just continue to validate a poor lifestyle choice. unfortunately some of the worst offenders of perpetuating shitty ideas (ex. 4ch, 8ch, wizch) just refuse to die, so maybe my point is moot.
>>14624 chans will be fine tons of these sites have come and gone it was always like that. discords a trend, not a long term social phenomena. youve posted this before here, you just added to it this time. >>14625 hikkichan wasnt doing anything fast that site had been up quite awhile and it wasnt ever quick. think the total site post count was around 20k ish. iternet communities come and go. 8chans probably not gonna be the longest lasted one, it keeps shrinking steadily. 4chans too mainstream to actually die, and a site like wizch has its echo chamber. honestly i try and keep an eye on new internet communities because i specifically thing is that the vast majority of internet communities decay and just arent that good after their early period. there is no escaping that shit even happens to forums and things like that.
This board is full of gay moe shit, give me a super masculine manga to read, or anime to watch where women are not given any combat roles.
In exchange, I recommend you read Otoyomegatari, it has realistic depictions of Steppe people and realistic QT females in it. Also I recommend Golden Kamui, it is a sweet tale of an Ainu girl and a Japanese soldier turned Treasure Hunter during the late 1800s.
No. 6 is an anime that's pretty bruhh, tbh, you could watch that. Afterwards you may help yourself to Blue Submarine No. 6 (no relation) but that one does feature stinky girls quite heavily so prepare for the ickyness factor.
Rei vs. Asuka is like if out of two runners one ran an impressive length in the wrong direction and the other literally exploded her muscles inside out on the way, somehow. The definition of biggest loss defines the entire race's parameters.
>>195355 'survival'anon here haven't read the thread yet, only this post. but just generally dont waste your money (or rather educate yourself on what is worth spending on and what's not). I recommend online auction sites for used but quality firearms. Save your money and spend it on quality rudimentary and basic level firearm skills. To dip your toes on firearm knowledge in general I recommend reading military manuals for whatever system your looking at. For a general sense of what 'together' guns guys are like see youtube channels like Garandthumb or InRangeTV. Garandthumb is really beginner friendly since his early audience seems to have been /k/ommandos.
Catalans have been acting pretty edgily lately. (note the correct usage of adverb there, and not the adjective) Their parliament apparently wants to illegally hold a binding referendum on independence, which is against the Spanish constitution.
I won't make a separate thread for this and it fits here what I wanna say. So. The question of the Székely's autonomy is always a headache for some Romanian politicians. Now here's this dude, the Romanian PM himself, and says (I'll try to give an exact translation) during an interview when asked about the topic: >My answer is the same, when they tried to fly the flag on the occasion of I don't know what day. Back then I made it clear, if that flag is gonna be waved by the wind, the responsibles will be waved next to it. So basically he threatened with execution (by hanging). Now the Hungarian people both in Transylvania and in Small Hungary didn't take it nicely, not the media, not the parties (not even the left-liberals), and of course not the government. Now the tune of the Romanian leadership is this: the Székely autonomy is anti-constitutional as it is a danger to the unity of the country which is guaranteed by the constitution. And this is where this topic is related to this thread: they try to play the Spanish-Catalonian card. They use the same reason what Spain used when declared the referendum illegal: the Catalan independence is anti-constitutional because it threatens the unity of Spain. And this is what shows the negative IQ-ness of these "people". Probably they don't even know what autonomy is: Catalonia is an autonomous part of Spain, autonomy isn't a threat to anything. What can we do (beside talking)? We can veto their joining to Schengen. And maybe that's it. It's nice that the Fidesz has to do something because all (most of) the Hungarians in Transylvania vote for them during the elections and they could lose them or worse: they can vote for someone else. Next parliamentary election is in April.
Why were people so fanatic about Toradora? Even now there are still a lot of them, and I don't think it was that amazing. The only thing that saved it from being another run of the mill school love comedy with a love triangle was Rie Kugumiya's voice.
Actual dramatization. Calling it a love triangle is just a hindsighted rationalization about the obvious plot points, like reviewing a video game based on only the main missions on easy mode. Can't really tell how to explain color to the blind. > there are still a lot of them Perhaps in relation to some massive bias in your sampling. There could be millions, how many million times did you hear about it?
>>14664 I enjoyed it, but a lot of people have treated it like a classic, and the bloggers have called it one of the best rom-com anime. In its heyday it was everywhere in the anime-speaking internet with people reading the light novels and or playing video games/visual novels with the characters. It was fanatical and you still find vestiges of the Taiga waifu cult.
>>14665 >implying they should have become bronies instead >or watch star wars every single year Well it is the Unreal Tournament 2004 of romance anime. Perhaps you're so used to cringe from gamers that you were caught by surprise when anime fans weren't even always trying to make Kare Kano play on pocket calculators and microwaves displays.

Based on >the surge in off topic threads >declining post quality >declining unique id's (sometimes even <2k) >mod censoring >the number of banned ips / vpns >the most common reason for bans being calling out the mods >regular copy/pasta to "stop mod censoring on 8/pol/" we may be looking at an 8/pol/ exodus soon. this thread is to discuss how we can prepare for this - and for 8chan refugees to ask questions before shitting up our threads.
NOTE TO ALL 8CHAN REFUGEES: LURK AT LEAST 1 YEAR BEFORE POSTING!
I've been lurking here for a bit. It's a nice break from /the_donald/. Whatever your theory is on who the mods are and if they're some kind of agents, the one thing is certain is that they are completely incompetent. 8/pol/ is literally news now, there is 0 discussion on anything and anything other than news or happenings gets banned.
The mods want 8/pol/ to be a news source, not a movement or a discussion board, which is exactly what the fuck it is lol. It'd be nice to have some kind of news general here though so if all the refugees start posting hundreds of fucking articles, at least it's contained. I'd also like it because I'd have no reason to suffer and lurk that shithole anymore.
BO ponder on my idea plz ::::^))) if it's trash don't bother.
>>63193 If we start getting refugees I'd be open to the idea of a news general, just for plebesque articles and stuff like that. Some events definitely warrant their own threads though. It'd really just come down to if the board was being affected in a negative manner by too many shit-tier news threads or something. Our vol runs /news/ here and that's really the better to place to post stuff like that. Like you said, /pol/ is more of a discussion board, I've always viewed it as a poor man's thinktank.
>>63193 The biggest problem is that is not even news in the global sphere sense, but some sort of mini trump news network. (Can't let the goyim forget the teo scoops ).Things have become so bad that the more active threads seem to be 4/pol/ repost since the place is almost a desert now. Back in '14 /pol/ was the place I got most news, from around the world, and learnt about geopolitics
>>63194 What if you only let only really big, world changing news to be posted( actual happenings) and the rest go to /news/? That way newcomers will learn that it's ok to use the site and not be confined into one board, the thing that happened in 8/pol/. It seems TPTB wants us corraled into into their little controled containment zones and that the users internalize such a slave mindset.
>>63195 I don't really wanna make a decision about that stuff right now, this entire discussion is purely hypothetical. Sometimes even smaller news stories deserve to have a politically incorrect slant to their discussion, and that's one of the reasons places like this exist. Really, I'd just have to let things play out and see how they go. We don't even know if things are ever going to pick up to that point anyways, we'll just have to wait and see.
let them come and turn right back to the dilapidated junction of 8chan. 8chan /pol/ has been in a "family guy" mode for a while now. What I mean by that is that everything is going fine but at a certain point pepe becomes a character. I for one am not a stoned 14 year old so I can manage not hyperventilating over witches creating a social dichotomy wherin the nazi chamber is in a courting scenario with the gay women socialite faction if you will these sjws are the same as the stormfront co-adjitators. If I see "for what its worth" by buffalo Springfield embedded in another 8/pol/ post i might lose it.Everyone is comfy in the storm. Plebs are satisfied with knowing their elites are "evil satanists" without any elucidation. Its family guy chan no input necessary.. but praise and hype like and subscribe you feed 8chan your dreams so that masons can saunter on the mainstream media which is dialectical fake feud in that they are acknowledging contemporary republican politics as the fake news opponent. The msm and the alternative media are faking to get you to lay there. Lay there as they fucking parade their fucking larping dwarf faggotry in front of you. Dehumanize yourself and plank. Plank keep doing it until they cut your fucking head off but never question. Just lay on your stomach and think your a vanguard.
Ichigo AMshimaro unfortunately is punishingly short. It only last 1 cour and about half's worth of OVAs. This is very bad. Normally, a one cour at least leads into a second one two-abouts years afterwards, even if after that it's completely shelved.
For this reason I have been attempting to find the best series possible to watch after this one, removing the feeling that it's now over and will be so forever. Not necessarily the most similar series, but any one, out of all, that could let you fool yourself into maybe kind of thinking that it's something of a second season to Ichigo AMshimaro rather than an entirely different show just in the same genre.
In any case, for now I'll be trying to watch Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru, because Hotori kinda looks like Chiaki and it'a show with stupid people in it. Perhaps since they're 2old whorbs I'll be easily ready to let go of them once I'm done.
It seems Mitsuboshi Colors retains that theme of weird kid antics that was in Ichigo Mashimaro. One might not realize it but that show was something like Jaws of moe anime, it wasn't the derivative genre film like most summer blockbusters are, but it came up in an age where it was required to have some Academy Awards credentials to its own name as a self-standing trailblazer. Similarly Ichigo Mashimaro, although it is indeed a moe anime, wasn't only that, it was self-standing with themes about giving light to life outside of the Japanese traditionalist normie lifestyle. Being moe was a means to an end of illustrating that there's worth in how these misfit children are carving out a place for themselves in the Japanese society that's generally quite restrictive, where we get news like students being ostracised simply for having naturally brown hair instead of black. Today genre anime might not be built on such a thoughtful premise, but just copy moe tropes for the sake of of being moe.
Lucky Star and Manabi Straight themselves being the godfathers of moe anime also have those kinds of reasonings behind them, Manabi being even more blatant take on lonely children in degrading birth rates, and Lucky Star being KyoAni reinventing itself to remain relevant.
>>12959 >fresh meme It's dead. The handle that burns twice as bright burns half as long. And boy, did the meme burn really bright.
It's kind of redundant now, as this post is a week late, but the meme was only ever funny for two days before it got too popular and all the normies, who didn't even have a vr headset, flooded into vrchat and copied the meme (poorly, they didn't know how to do Ugandan accent).
I've already mentioned the book titled On Killing - The Psychological Cost of Learning to Kill in War and Society by Dave Grossman (Lt. Col. of US Army). It gave some food for thought and I'm planning to write some of my speculation.
But what did the author write? Let's summarize. He starts with the observation that most men has a natural resistance to kill (only 2% of men - those who have "predisposition toward aggressive psychopathic personality" - can go on killing without becoming a nervous wreck). This resistance is so high that even at times that our life is directly threatened (like others shoot at us) still difficult to overcome it. This resistance is the reason why infantry fire was so embarrassingly ineffective in the past 300 years - with the exception of machine guns - despite the fact that infantry weaponry (rifles) are reliable and accurate enough to cause massive losses among the enemy. The author gives examples and sources, such as a Prussian experiment in the late 18th century, several reports and notices from several authors during 19-20th centuries (American, French, Israeli etc.), and an interesting work by a US Army historian who (and his coworkers) made mass interviews with fighting GIs during and after WWII. Also he cites his own conversation with veterans of WWII and Vietnam. He gives new ideas on what's really happening on the battlefield. He compliments the widely known fight-or-flight model with two other options: in reality the soldiers can fight, posture, submit or flight. And most soldiers choose the second option. Then he ponders on what enables killing (I'm gonna write more about this later) and how modern (post-WWII) armies achieve this. Then he compares these methods with the ways of contemporary mass media. His conlcusion is (after pointing out the exponential rise of violent crimes) that mass media has an undesirable effect on society.
What interesting for me is this resistance, and the enabling part. These things are actually give an entirely new way of looking warfare, and how and why battles were won. For example the part officers (the demanding authority to kill) play in the enabling. When people (professional historians, history pros and other armchair generals) comparing the Hellenic phalanx with Roman manipulus and why the latter was more successful they compare everything but the officers. In the phalanx he's only one among those who stand in line and do the poking with pikes, but a Roman officer is one outside the formation and pressuring the soldiers to kill. It makes a huge difference if someone shouting in your ears "stab! stab! stab!" and generally pressuring you to kill. Especially if this one person is an exemplary one, a veteran whose skill in killing surpasses all the others in that particular unit. However noone talks about this because noone thinks about it.
I'll continue this sometimes, maybe only next weekend, we'll see. If you wish to read the book you can probably find it on libgen.
A.D. 917. ... they found other troops that were riding out against Leighton. But the inhabitants were aware of it; and having fought with them they put them into full flight; and arrested all that they had taken, and also of their horses and of their weapons a good deal A.D. 918. This year came a great naval armament over hither south from the Lidwiccians; and two earls with it, Ohter and Rhoald. ... but the men of Hertford met them, and of Glocester, and of the nighest towns; and fought with them, and put them to flight; and they slew the Earl Rhoald, and the brother of Ohter the other earl, and many of the army. A.D. 921. ... Thence they advanced till they came to Bedford; where the men who were within came out against them, and fought with them, and put them to flight, and slew a good number of them. A.D. 938. ... With chosen troops, throughout the day, the West-Saxons fierce press'd on the loathed bands; hew'd down the fugitives, and scatter'd the rear, with strong mill-sharpen'd blades ... A.D. 999. ... where the Kentish army came against them, and encountered them in a close engagement; but, alas! they too soon yielded and fled; because they had not the aid that they should have had. The Danes therefore occupied the field of battle, ... ''A.D. 1001. This year there was great commotion in England in consequence of an invasion by the Danes, ... they advanced in one march as far as the town of Alton; where the people of Hampshire came against them, and fought with them. ... and of all the men who were engaged with them eighty-one. Of the Danes there was slain a much greater number, though they remained in possession of the field of battle. ... And they proceeded thence towards Exmouth, so that they marched at once till they came to Pin-hoo; where Cole, high-steward of the king, and Edsy, reve of the king, came against them with the army that they could collect. But they were there put to flight, and there were many slain, and the Danes had possession of the field of battle. v2. ... And so soon as they joined battle, then the people gave way: and there they made great slaughter, ...'' A.D. 1006. ... They then turned along Ashdown to Cuckamsley-hill, and there awaited better cheer; for it was often said, that if they sought Cuckamsley, they would never get to the sea. But they went another way homeward. Then was their army collected at Kennet; and they came to battle there, and soon put the English force to flight; and afterwards carried their spoil to the sea. ... A.D. 1016. ... A second battle he fought, after midsummer, at Sherston; where much slaughter was made on either side, and the leaders themselves came together in the fight. ... It was within two nights after that the king went over at Brentford; where he fought with the enemy, and put them to flight: but there many of the English were drowned, from their own carelessness; who went before the main army with a design to plunder. ... When the king understood that the army was up, then collected he the fifth time all the English nation, and went behind them, and overtook them in Essex, on the down called Assingdon; where they fiercely came together. Then did Alderman Edric as he often did before—he first began the flight with the Maisevethians, and so betrayed his natural lord and all the people of England. There had Knute the victory, though all England fought against him! ...
A.D. 1054. This year went Siward the earl with a great army into Scotland, both with a ship-force and with a landforce, and fought against the Scots, and put to flight King Macbeth, and slew all who were the chief men in the land A.D. 1068. ... After this came Harold's sons from Ireland, about midsummer, with sixty-four ships into the mouth of the Taft, where they unwarily landed: and Earl Breon came unawares against them with a large army, and fought with them, and slew there all the best men that were in the fleet; and the others, being small forces, escaped to the ships: and Harold's sons went back to Ireland again. A.D. 1094. ... the Welshmen gathered themselves together, and with the French that were in Wales, or in the neighbourhood, ... With some part of them fought Hugh, Earl of Shropshire, (120) and put them to flight. A.D. 1124. ... Then came against them the king's knights from all the castles that were thereabout, and fought with them, and put them to flight, and took the Earl Waleram, and Hugh, the son of Gervase, and Hugh of Montfort, and five and twenty other knights, and brought them to the king. A.D. 1138. In this year came David, King of Scotland, with an immense army to this land. He was ambitious to win this land; but against him came William, Earl of Albemarle, to whom the king had committed York, and other borderers, with few men, and fought against them, and routed the king at the Standard, and slew very many of his gang. A.D. 1140. ... And the earl stole out, and went after Robert, Earl of Glocester, and brought him thither with a large army. And they fought strenuously on Candlemas day against their lord, and took him; for his men forsook him and fled.
From all this, we are the most interested in those lines where the flight took place before the slaughter and don't sound too much like it's just a way they wrote things. where the Bretons fought with them, obtained the victory, and drove them out into a river, in which many of them were drowned. and there fought with him and put him to flight, and slew many thousands of his men. and fought with them, and put them to flight; and they slew the Earl Rhoald, and the brother of Ohter the other earl, and many of the army. and fought with them, and put them to flight, and slew a good number of them. the West-Saxons fierce press'd on the loathed bands; hew'd down the fugitives, and scatter'd the rear, with strong mill-sharpen'd blades ... - My favourite. And so soon as they joined battle, then the people gave way: and there they made great slaughter, ... and fought against them, and routed the king at the Standard, and slew very many of his gang. Not much but still.

ISIS in eastern Homs are getting gradually removed and hopefully soon they will be containet in the east.
There was something about Israel entering Lebanon air space and Syria reacting with anti air defence but sadly I lost link to proofs.
Suddenly ISIS active as fuck, soon cutting off the spearhead of SAA at the airport. South of them that red truck is government reinforcement heading north, I think it's earlier event than the ISIS action so those units now might be north of the black area. The SAA started something at the road NE from the airport tho.
Is anyone following the situation in Afrin? Erdogan was made bombastic statements about crushing it, Turkish reinforcements have showed up at its borders and rebels exchanged shellings and skirmished with the YPG. All of this happens every once in a while and then deescalates, but now America has declared it doesn't care and the SDF has sent reinforcements through regime territory. This is most likely just Erdogan attention whoring as usual, but perhaps it'll be more than that.

That one where the mod bans the guy and just runs away, you can tell people in that room wanted to say something but didn't because they were afraid of getting banned for not agreeing with the mod. That's control through fear, not control through order. It's obvious that these bans aren't a community decision because most people on VRChat don't give the slightest fuck and you see people on Youtube doing far worse just like the poster said.
And just as the poster also said, all the people who are getting banned for as much as jokes are the ones making Right leaning jokes so there's the proof in the pudding. I don't know, but it looks like the mods are about to turn VRChat into Second Life 2 electric boogaloo but with less dicks.
The makers of VRChat are going full Orwellian mode soon because of the huge number of people, mostly young GenZ's trolling and having fun with a "racist" meme.
>VRChat, which launched early last year, is one of many VR platforms that enables friends and strangers to meet up online and hang out. Unlike many other apps, though, VRChat has users creating their own 3D models to use as avatars and build new experiences via Unity. However, as the platform experienced “explosive growth” over the Christmas period, there’s been an increase in (((problematic))) behavior on the platform ranging from trolling to racism and sexism.
>In the letter the VRChat team acknowledged that it was struggling with “trying to maintain and shape a community that is fun and safe for everyone.”
>"We’re aware there’s a percentage of users that choose to engage in disrespectful or harmful behavior,” the letter reads. “It is our top priority to address the quality of the VRChat experience, especially for new users, and our team will continue to work toward improving that. We have a trained and dedicated (((moderation team))) that monitors VRChat constantly."
>"In addition, the team is working on tools that will allow the community to “better self moderate and for our moderation team to be more effective.”
The maker of the Uganda Knuckles model also regrets making it.
>"Please do not use this to bug the users of Vrchat. Its community means a lot to me and it would hurt me to see the rights of other users taken away and possibly restricted because of how out of hand it can get. Showing off their creativity and what they are capable of. For me….. I'm in college and don't have a lot of time to get on like I would like to anymore… I remember making this and thinking… Well it could be funny to show off to my friends and possibly mess with users. But I've learned what kind of things I'm really capable of making. Its always fun to be the one with models no one else has access to."
As far as I know you would say at if it were a physical location or event. I will see you at the Christmas party. Practically it would be more like, I'll be home for Christmas, that's like the cliche term anyway.
